The menu is a well-curated celebration of flavors and textures, beginning with tantalizing starters such as the velvety seasonal soup, brimming with garden-fresh arugula, quinoa, and crisp fuji apples, all enlivened by a tangy banyuls vinaigrette. The deviled eggs topped with luxurious white sturgeon caviar and a subtle kick of shichimi togarashi showcase the kitchen’s mastery over balance and refinement. Charcuterie selections come paired with house-made pickles and grilled bread, perfect for sharing or whetting your appetite.
Sides here are more than an afterthought; wild mushrooms sautéed to earthy perfection, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts with a delicate seasoning, and thick-cut Kennebec fries add depth and heartiness to your meal. Among the mains, the butternut squash risotto stands out with its creamy Acquerello rice woven with wild mushrooms and crowned by a pumpkin seed gremolada and grana padano—each bite a comforting medley of autumnal flavors. The bolognese fettuccine is a hearty crowd-pleaser, featuring a rich Wagyu beef sauce from Skywalker Ranch and topped with fine herbs and parmigiano reggiano, offering an exquisitely savory and satisfying dish. Seafood lovers will appreciate the pan-roasted salmon served alongside Yukon gold potatoes, bacon, and delicate spinach, marrying richness and freshness in every forkful.
Beyond the cuisine, Sessions at the Presidio exudes a relaxed yet polished vibe. Guests appreciate the spacious seating with ample natural light, and the outdoor patio is a big draw—especially for dog owners, as the venue is notably dog-friendly, welcoming furry companions with open arms. The ambiance is enhanced by views of the lush Presidio grounds and a modern minimalist interior design that feels thoughtfully curated without pretension.
Feedback from guests highlights several standout experiences. Nate Ulsh praised the prompt, amicable service and fresh selections during a late Sunday brunch, although he found the Brussels sprouts a bit too salty. Kurt Davis raved about the perfectly cooked steak frites and fresh sourdough bread with truffle butter, suggesting a careful attention to quality ingredients. Cindy Chan expressed heartfelt appreciation for the attentive staff who meticulously accommodated allergy concerns, alongside a flavorful coffee and highly recommended Pork Belly Benedict. Others, like Jeff Meyer, admired the farm-to-table vegetables with salmon and the serene yet lively setting near the Palace of Fine Arts. While some noted that service can feel a bit mechanical, the overall consensus is one of professional, courteous staff fostering a comfortable dining environment.
Sessions at the Presidio stands as a gem for those seeking refined yet unpretentious California cuisine in a stunning location. Came for a "brunch" at 2:30pm on a Sunday. Greeted by amicable staff, plenty of seating available, and quick service. A good selection of food and wine, decided on the polenta with mushrooms and brussel sprouts as well as the the carrot and ginger soup. Both were good but the brussel sprouts were a bit too salty and interfered with the complementary taste of the dish. The hamburger beef was also a bit too salty, and chilaquiles were great. Kids menu had ample choices. The price for food quality and portions seems accurate. Great ambiance and outdoor dining experience with the exception of the frequent, abrupt barking of several dogs from patrons (didn't expect this otherwise would have preferred to be seated inside).
The food was amazing! I got the steak frites for my entree. The steak was cooked to perfection and the fries were nice and crispy. The sourdough bread was very fresh and the truffle butter added a nice earthy buttery touch. The eggs were good too, but I am not a fan of caviar. The service was great but the host was a little stand offish. Not a problem as they weren't rude just noting they may not have been a talkative person. Overall I would come here again as the food, service, and overall ambiance were good. I enjoyed that we had a good amount of space between the tables around us so it didn't feel like we were on top of each other and our party could enjoy ourselves.
Very Dog friendly. The covered outdoor patio had 6 dogs today. Love that they accept dogs there. The staff was attentive and friendly. They were diligent in making sure that the list of allergies I gave them was triple checked and they reassured me when delivering my food to the table. It was very much appreciated. The food and coffee was delicious. Highly recommend the Pork Belly Benedict. It was served on sourdough toast instead of English muffins which I loved.
Nice clean place. Outside seating gets filled up fast. You get a nice view there. The food is good and it comes out prompt. We had brunch at noon on a Sunday. The service is good although it's a bit mechanical. Servers do not try to engage with you.
This is one of the few dining venues near the Palace of Fine Arts and it’s a very good one. The farm to table vegetables accompanying my salmon were outstanding. The salmon was also great. The location right on the edge of the Presidio has lovely grounds and the building interior has a modern minimalist aesthetic. On the Saturday evening we went it wasn’t too crowded and service was prompt. So if you’re going to a performance at PoFA and only want to park once this is a great dining option before your show.
Came in for a late lunch after hiking around the Presidio and was pleasantly surprised with everything. The oysters had to be my favorite dish, but the beef waygyu meatballs were also very good. The staff was very friendly and fast to check on us and get refills. The cucumber cocktail was such a nice refreshing drink. Very pleasant experience, would come back again.
Lunch on the patio allows your fur family members. Our wait staff was attentive and friendly. Checked in us periodically giving a nice balance of uninterrupted conversation. Beautiful views of the park when you dine outside
Very large and stylish restaurant. We had a late lunch (3pm) so the restaurant was relatively empty. We ordered a big and fried chicken breast sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed them. The fries were warm and crispy, just how we like them. Restrooms were very clean. There’s also a large bar area in the middle of the restaurant. We definitely recommend this place.
